Light Recorders are multi-sensory interactive objects that are you hold in your hands. The maker behind Light Recorders, Charles Matthews, created the devices to explore different ways of accessing sound art. The devices respond differently to different colours and intensity of lights, creating tactile vibration patterns that can be recorded, looped and played back. Visitors are invited to play with the light recorders and learn about their construction (Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Bela boards embedded into housings made of papier-mache and 3D prints).
Visitors will be invited to contribute to an ongoing piece by sketching new patterns for the devices to respond to, discussing designs and code, and trying out some simple breadboard assemblies.
